About the position

The Assistant Manager of Sales, Service, and Design at West Elm is responsible for supporting the management team in achieving sales goals while providing exceptional customer service. This role involves leading the store team, ensuring adequate staffing, coaching staff on customer service principles, and maintaining a positive work environment. The Assistant Manager will also handle client service issues and contribute to a culture focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the store team to create an exceptional experience for customers and exceed sales goals.
  • Ensures the sales floor is adequately staffed while serving as a role model for sales associates.
  • Reinforces customer service principles by coaching staff on their successes and challenges.
  • Utilizes training resources to educate the team on products and improve selling skills.
  • Creates and ensures a positive environment where all associates are treated fairly and with dignity.
  • Ensures timely resolution of client service issues through effective management of client information.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of previous retail sales experience or management experience in a customer service related field.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Superior critical thinking skills to creatively identify challenges and develop action plans.
  • Great time management skills and ability to execute multiple tasks.
