About the position

Texas A&M University is seeking a seasoned educational professional for the role of Program Coordinator II for the iGROW Project, which is a collaborative initiative aimed at supporting students with disabilities in their transition to postsecondary education and competitive employment. This four-year program, funded in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission's Vocational Rehabilitation Program, serves up to 20 students annually who are currently enrolled in middle and high school. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and collaborating with Texas schools to ensure the successful implementation of the iGROW Project, which focuses on providing essential work readiness training and leadership development for students with disabilities. The Program Coordinator II will oversee the day-to-day operations of the iGROW Project in West Texas, specifically in Eula, and will be tasked with establishing both short- and long-term goals for the project. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering partnerships with various stakeholders, including schools, families, and community leaders, to enhance the program's effectiveness and reach. The coordinator will also be responsible for providing training and technical assistance to schools, leading project reporting efforts, and ensuring that all program activities are executed according to contractual obligations. In addition to program coordination, the role involves engaging with stakeholders to build and maintain partnerships that support the workforce development of students with disabilities. The Program Coordinator will participate in research and evaluation activities, collecting and managing data to assess the program's impact and effectiveness. This position requires travel to various locations for meetings, events, and training sessions, as well as occasional work during nights and weekends to accommodate program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the TAMU iGROW Project in the designated region.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals and strategic planning for the project.
  • Assist PI's and fiscal personnel with daily fiscal and purchasing activities and propose expenses.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for the project.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to schools in implementing project activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to offer regional learning opportunities for schools, vocational rehabilitation, employers, parents, students, and other partners.
  • Serve as the point of contact for schools regarding project activities.
  • Lead project reporting efforts and assist in establishing objectives, policies, and procedures related to the project.
  • Work with partners and stakeholders to enhance community, school, and student capacity for competitive integrated employment.
  • Plan, create, and adhere to project timelines, ensuring all activities are implemented according to the contract.
  • Provide weekly status updates on program and project activities.
  • Coordinate and plan the Summer Institute.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of experience in coordinating projects and/or programs related to adolescents/youth with disabilities and providing transition services.
  • Teaching Certificate or equivalent in Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Transition, or closely related fields.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in special education or a related field.
  • Experience in offering work-based learning or other learning opportunities to students with or without disabilities.
  • Six or more years of experience in coordinating projects and/or programs related to adolescents/youth with disabilities and providing transition services.
  • Ability to work with school districts and Texas Workforce Commission's vocational rehabilitation counselors to develop pre-ETS training programs.
  • Ability to coordinate between schools, families, workforce, and community leaders to accomplish program goals.
