About the position

The Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP) Coordinator plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the WRAP, which is designed to ensure that participants maintain adequate capacity for reliable operation within their Balancing Authority Areas. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including technical analysis, real-time support for engineering applications, and the development of program improvements and metrics. The WRAP Coordinator is expected to work collaboratively with 20 electric industry companies to maximize access to regional load and generation diversity, ensuring that the program operates effectively and efficiently. In this role, the Coordinator will be responsible for essential functions such as conducting Multi-Day Assessments, managing Preschedule Day activities, and providing Real-Time support during Sharing Events. The Coordinator will monitor and improve the applications used by WRAP, ensuring that all systems utilize correct input data and produce accurate results. Additionally, the Coordinator will work closely with participants to gather necessary updates and changes, assist in testing and implementing software changes, and analyze both normal and abnormal events to recommend process improvements. The position requires strong decision-making skills, especially in stressful situations, and the ability to coach and mentor junior coordinators. The Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining and developing WRAP applications, preparing and validating data for assessments, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders, including WRAP participants and consultants. This role is expected to operate with minimal supervision and may involve some after-hours support during critical events.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day WRAP coordinator activities, including responsibility for the Program essential functions of Multi-Day Assessment, Preschedule Day activities, and Real-Time support during Sharing Events
  • Monitoring, supporting, and improving the applications used by WRAP
  • Working with Participants to obtain all necessary WRAP updates and changes
  • Assisting in testing and implementing necessary software changes for the WRAP
  • Supporting in analyzing normal/abnormal events and documenting recommended changes to processes/software
  • Maintaining, developing, and improving WRAP applications and processes
  • Researching, documenting, and reporting issues reported by SPP Staff, WRAP Participants, and other interested parties
  • Requesting and collecting information, preparing and validating data, and executing computer runs for assessments
  • Continuously monitoring WRAP systems and taking actions to maintain accuracy of results
  • Responding quickly and accurately to unexpected events
  • Developing and periodically updating WRAP model, including transmission paths and Participant inputs
  • Adhering to and enforcing SPP Policies and Procedures
  • Communicating with WRAP Participants, non-Participants, and consultants regarding activities in the WRAP
  • Assisting the Supervisor, WRAP Operations with special projects
  • Coaching and training other coordinators in the group
  • Coordinating with other teams in developing training scenarios and documentation for operations personnel
  • Apprising appropriate personnel of process and procedure changes and coordinating with Training personnel
  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for processes and procedures related to the coordinator position
  • Mentoring and providing leadership to other coordinators

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline; 2+ years of relevant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • For WRAP Coordinator III: Four (4) years of relevant job-related experience
  • For Sr. WRAP Coordinator: Six (6) years of relevant job-related experience
  • Ability to handle most types of assignments or tasks independently
  • Broad knowledge or experience in the field
  • Ability to coach junior coordinators
  • Strong inter-personal, oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Project Management concepts and tools
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
