Cohen Business Law Group, APC, a dynamic and growing business law firm specializing in intellectual property and Internet law, is seeking a full-time Litigation and Transactional Legal Assistant. This position is crucial for supporting our legal team in managing a variety of tasks related to litigation and transactional work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for primary calendar management, ensuring that all deadlines are met in accordance with California Code of Civil Procedure (CCP) and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP). The role also involves office management duties, including the preparation of legal documents, filing in State and Federal civil courts, and light reception tasks. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding grammar, self-initiative, and a strong attention to detail, which are essential for this position. In addition to calendar management, the Legal Assistant will be tasked with organizing and maintaining legal files and documents, conducting legal research, and gathering relevant information to support ongoing cases. The candidate will also be responsible for proofreading legal documents for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all submissions are error-free. Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills are necessary for effective client interaction, as the role includes answering phone calls and taking messages. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative support to lawyers, including scheduling appointments and managing their calendars, which requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines effectively. Candidates should have at least 2 years of directly relevant experience as a legal assistant, with familiarity in PACER and CM/ECF filing systems. Knowledge of LA, Orange County, and Federal filing rules and calendar requirements is essential. While paralegal skills and notary public registration are beneficial, they are not required.
