The Wet Lab Research Analyst II position at the University of Chicago's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a critical role within the Lengyel Lab, focusing on ovarian cancer research. This position involves participating in scientific research projects that investigate the role of the stroma during ovarian cancer disease progression. The analyst will work with human tissue, in vivo mouse models, three-dimensional organotypic cultures, and primary cell models to conduct translational research. The role requires a combination of independent and collaborative work with principal investigators, fellows, students, and other research specialists. In addition to research activities, the Wet Lab Research Analyst II will manage various laboratory duties, including coordinating laboratory renovations and maintenance. The analyst will also be responsible for training new employees on specialized equipment such as imaging cytometry, plate reading, high-throughput screening, and immunoblot analysis. The position requires regular meetings with the research team and coordination with company representatives and core directors to ensure the successful completion of studies involving techniques like immunoblots, real-time PCR, primary cell isolation and culture, 3D organotypic cultures, CyTOF, multiplex immunofluorescence, and sc-RNAseq. The role is funded by contractual grant funding, and employment is contingent upon the continued receipt of these funds and satisfactory job performance. The analyst will also be involved in writing articles, reports, and manuscripts, as well as presenting research findings at staff meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences. Overall, this position is integral to advancing the research goals of the department and contributing to the understanding of ovarian cancer.
