About the position

The Wet Process Development Engineer at Western Digital will focus on wafer wet process development, specifically in Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) and Wet Process Development. This role is crucial for enabling and accelerating the deployment of Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology into Hard Disk Drive (HDD) products. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve integration issues and ensure successful new product launches while applying quantitative analysis and machine learning techniques to enhance process performance.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with wafer wet process development engineers and technicians for new process development and methodology setup.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve integration issues related to wet processes.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts in the development line, conducting defect and root cause analyses.
  • Transfer new processes to manufacturing engineering and support the manufacturing ramp-up.
  • Utilize quantitative analysis and machine learning for wafer wet process data analysis.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related engineering field.
  • Understanding of microelectronics wafer fabrication processes including CMP, photolithography, dry or wet etching, electroplating, or thin film deposition.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong hands-on experience in wafer fabrication.
