About the position

The Program Manager for Strategic Initiatives at WGL is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives across the organization. This role involves collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to identify, develop, and implement initiatives that align with the company's goals. The position also requires direct project management of high-profile initiatives without existing business owners, ensuring successful execution from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Identify strategic initiatives that align with the organization's strategic direction.
  • Evaluate and prioritize initiatives that best support the organization's objectives and available resources.
  • Lead and manage strategic initiative programs from inception to completion.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, department heads, and team members.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, project management, or a related field preferred.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of program management experience with demonstrated success leading teams required.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, program management, or consulting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Knowledge of gas utility industry trends and best practices preferred.
