About the position

The Senior Industrial Control Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas through the engineering, development, and security of hardware and software automation and control solutions. This role focuses on minimizing risks and vulnerabilities within the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) environment, particularly in Gas Control, Operations Dispatch, and field locations such as plants and gate stations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and implement technologies and system architectures to enhance cyber security and reliability of the ICS environment.
  • Review, test, analyze, and develop threat prevention measures for the ICS environment.
  • Evaluate system vulnerabilities and implement mitigation measures based on risk assessment.
  • Develop and maintain a software and firmware management database for the ICS environment.
  • Determine necessary software and firmware updates through testing and analysis.
  • Develop, validate, and document procedures for testing software and firmware updates.
  • Analyze ICS networks to identify cyber risks and provide solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot ICS networks and SCADA applications to resolve operational problems.
  • Program PLCs and RTUs for automation of Gate Station control and monitoring of natural gas flow and pressure.
  • Program SCADA applications and HMIs to provide a graphical interface for the gas distribution system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience with industrial control systems required.
  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA applications, PLC hardware, and PLC programming required.
  • Extensive knowledge of process control and measurement theory, and instrumentation systems required.
  • Proven capability to troubleshoot complex ICS equipment and processes required.
  • Ability to communicate ICS operational requirements to stakeholders required.
  • Working knowledge of control systems in natural gas and propane processing preferred.
  • Experience with network technologies, cyber security, and Windows Servers preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with relational databases preferred.
  • Availability to serve on-call on a rotating schedule.
