About the position

The Wholesale Credit Risk Analyst - Officer position at Citi is a critical role within the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) Risk Analysis unit. This team is dedicated to delivering top-tier credit risk analysis, monitoring, and credit administration, ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending operations. As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of ICM Risk Relationships, conducting thorough credit assessments, and continuously monitoring the financial health of these relationships. Your role will involve applying your industry knowledge and financial acumen to evaluate credit risk ratings, regulatory classifications, and credit recommendations, which are essential for maintaining the integrity of Citi's lending practices. In this position, you will be expected to produce comprehensive Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and Transaction memos, all of which require a solid understanding of credit risk principles. You will work closely with your Credit Risk Team Lead, gaining insights into credit risk, industry fundamentals, and effective communication strategies. The role specifically focuses on the Consumer Goods & Retail sector, and you will report directly to the Consumer Goods & Retail Credit Risk Team Lead. Your responsibilities will include assessing the creditworthiness of Citi's counterparts, completing detailed credit analysis write-ups, and making informed recommendations based on your findings. You will also engage in continuous monitoring of your portfolio, staying abreast of industry trends and potential credit issues, and collaborating with regional and industry stakeholders to implement credit assessment standards. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying risks and communicating effectively with various levels of management. With less than 10% travel expected, this role offers a balance of analytical work and stakeholder engagement, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to advance their careers in credit risk analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi's counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Complete Credit Analysis Write-up Memos and Final Obligor Risk Ratings based on independent assessment and judgment.
  • Perform Transaction memos approvals in a timely manner according to business priority, documenting discretionary recommendations in the memo.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to make recommendations on risk ratings, classifications, and proposals.
  • Continuously monitor the covered portfolio, following industry trends and escalating potential credit issues to IRAU Team Leads.
  • Partner with regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards.
  • Support ICM Risk Analysis Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Master's degree (MBA) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a basic understanding of credit risk and financial statements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial modeling concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
