About the position

The Network Engineer IV position within the WiFi Engineering team at Spectrum is focused on providing expertise for the Spectrum Mobile Network - WiFi program. The role involves building proof of concept environments, documenting technical requirements for WiFi offload initiatives, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the success of connectivity initiatives. A strong background in telecommunications and experience managing large-scale WiFi networks are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Design, deploy, manage, and ensure stability of local/wide area network infrastructure technologies.
  • Demonstrate competence in LAN/WAN technologies, routing and switching platforms, and troubleshooting critical issues.
  • Collaborate with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies.
  • Provide excellent customer service and knowledge to support business growth.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve major network and system issues.
  • Document project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing, and terms of delivery.
  • Mentor and train other Engineering personnel in networking systems and provide technical presentations.
  • Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business.
  • Test and validate new hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance.
  • Adhere to industry-specific regulations and company policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years of data network experience.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols, and topology.
  • Extensive knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
  • Extensive knowledge of basic network devices and appliances.
  • Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in programming skills (Python, Java, Perl, etc.).
  • Knowledge and proficiency in databases.
  • Extensive knowledge in analyzing large sets of data and detecting outage patterns.
  • Proficient in Wi-Fi standards and knowledge of Radius & Diameter Protocols.
