About the position

The WiFi Test Engineer role focuses on performance testing of WiFi devices, requiring expertise in various testing equipment and RF concepts. The engineer will be responsible for validating customer premises equipment (CPE) on the network, generating performance metrics, and compiling test reports to support presentations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct WiFi performance testing using Octoscope, Candela, or Veriwave test equipment.
• Validate CPE (e.g., TR-069 routers) on the network using shell scripts.
• Customize scripts and run experiments based on vendor specifications, including ports, WiFi radios, and SSID packets.
• Generate TPut/KPI/other performance metrics and statistics for tested devices.
• Compile test reports and assist in preparing presentations.
• Utilize debugging tools and perform root-cause analysis for issues encountered during testing.

Requirements

• Prior experience with WiFi performance testing is required.
• Familiarity with Octoscope, Candela, or Veriwave test equipment is a must.
• Good knowledge of RF concepts, including splitters, attenuators, antennas, and RF shielded boxes.
• Familiarity with lab test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes is required.
• Good knowledge of TCP-IP and L2 networking/switches, as well as Wireshark debugging tools is required.
• Familiarity with L3 networking/routers is a plus.
• Good knowledge of device management protocols like TR-069 is required.
• Ability to write shell scripts is required.
• Experience in software automation using tools like Python and Expect is a plus.
• Prior experience with debugging tools and root-cause analysis is required.
• Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
• Good documentation skills are required.
