About the position

The WIC Certifier at West Central Community Center is responsible for providing professional nutritional and breastfeeding education and support for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutritional program. This full-time role involves completing certification appointments, conducting nutrition assessments, and setting nutritional goals for families. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community service and a strong understanding of nutrition, particularly in relation to the WIC program.

Responsibilities

• Complete certification appointments for WIC clients.
• Provide nutrition assessments and education to clients individually or in groups.
• Set nutritional goals for families served by the WIC program.
• Greet and direct participants at the front counter and via phone, scheduling appointments and issuing WIC cards.
• Explain program documents and provide general nutrition and breastfeeding information.
• Assist clients in completing required documentation while maintaining confidentiality.
• Stay updated with current DOH standards and USDA requirements, completing all required training of a WIC CPA.
• Perform non-invasive hemoglobin testing and maintain medical assistant license.
• Organize and maintain program files, ensuring compliance with record disposition schedules.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 20+ credit hours in Health or a related field required.
• Minimum of two years of office experience required.
• Minimum of two years of customer service experience required.

Nice-to-haves

• AAS or BA/BS Degree preferred.
• Knowledge of the WIC program is preferred.
