About the position

The Competent Professional Authority-Registered Dietitian (CPA-RD) at CCI Health Services plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality nutrition care to community members. This position involves conducting nutrition care appointments and follow-ups at designated sites, where the CPA-RD prescribes both standard and non-standard food packages, as well as specialty formulas. The CPA-RD is responsible for obtaining anthropometric measurements and ensuring that all services provided are compliant with Federal, State, and Local agency policies and procedures. This role also includes contributing to the development of educational activities, such as staff training and curriculum development, to enhance the quality of care provided to clients. In addition to direct client care, the CPA-RD will assist in the delivery of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services at CCI clinic sites, ensuring that services are culturally sensitive and cost-efficient. The CPA-RD will follow state guidelines for issuing infant formulas and other nutritional products, accurately interpreting growth charts and health histories to identify nutrition risks. The role requires effective communication skills to provide nutrition counseling tailored to the specific needs of participants, addressing their questions and concerns while providing appropriate educational materials. The CPA-RD will also monitor high-risk participants and ensure they receive the necessary follow-up care, as well as manage special formula issuance according to established policies. This position is vital in promoting equitable health care access and improving the nutritional health of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition care appointments and follow-ups at designated sites.
  • Prescribe standard and non-standard food packages and specialty formulas.
  • Obtain anthropometric measurements for clients.
  • Develop educational activities, including staff training and curriculum development.
  • Assist in the delivery of WIC services at CCI clinic sites.
  • Follow state guidelines for issuing infant formulas and other nutritional products.
  • Identify applicable nutrition risk codes by interpreting growth charts and health histories.
  • Prescribe appropriate food packages based on dietary and health requirements.
  • Provide targeted nutrition counseling to address specific nutrition risks.
  • Offer exit counseling to postpartum and breastfeeding women.
  • Provide nutrition education materials relevant to counseling topics.
  • Open nutrition care appointments three months in advance for participant scheduling.
  • Monitor high-risk participants and ensure proper referrals to Registered Dietitians.
  • Issue special formulas according to policies and procedures.
  • Follow up with high-risk participants to manage nutrition risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification required.
  • Under 1 year of experience in nutrition or related field.
  • Strong communication skills for effective counseling and education.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally sensitive care.
