About the position

The Wildfire Resiliency Planner at the Okanogan Conservation District is responsible for leading wildfire preparedness and recovery projects aimed at enhancing community resilience to wildfire disasters. This role involves advocating for forest health and wildfire resiliency improvements, conducting assessments, and collaborating with various stakeholders to develop effective solutions for wildfire risk reduction in Okanogan County.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of properties and home ignition zones to evaluate wildfire risks and provide property owners with recommendations based upon the assessment.
  • Collaborate with community members, district staff, and partners to develop community wildfire risk reduction plans.
  • Plan, organize, and implement fuel reduction projects at both site-specific and community-wide scales.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of conservation districts, forest health, and wildfire resource management issues.
  • Excellent conservation planning and communication skills.
  • Experience in grant management and budgeting.
  • Ability to work with empathy and provide assistance to individuals affected by wildfires.
