About the position

As a Wildland Fire Supervisor you will supervise coordination of the necessary field activities to meet fire program objectives on the unit or district through cooperation with cooperators and local and federal agencies. This position supervises employees engaged in field activities accomplishing prevention, pre-suppression, suppression, and ensures maintenance of equipment and facilities to support accomplishment of program objectives. Supervision of employees in other programs as assigned. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Responsibilities

  • Supervise coordination of field activities to meet fire program objectives.
  • Cooperate with local and federal agencies.
  • Supervise employees engaged in fire prevention, pre-suppression, and suppression activities.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Supervise employees in other programs as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching experience, including one (1) year of leading/supervising the work of others.
  • Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field and two (2) years of wildland fire suppression or emergency dispatching experience, including one (1) year of leading/supervising the work of others.
  • Obtain Class B Warden certification within the trial service period (if applicable).
  • Successfully take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the moderate level (if applicable).

  • Strong experience in wildland fire suppression.
  • Experience coordinating and planning projects.
  • Strong leadership skills in wildland fire fighting.
  • Ability to provide training, guidance, and direction to subordinates.
