About the position
The Wildlife Biologist position at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management involves managing and conducting research related to wildlife conservation and habitat management. The role includes collaboration with local interest groups, Tribal Councils, and federal agencies to apply biological decisions and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Lead Wildlife Biologist and will be responsible for overseeing wildlife management programs and contributing to the field/district's annual work plan.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Lead Wildlife Biologist on local wildlife issues and habitat conservation.
- Manage and perform research or scientific work related to wildlife species conservation.
- Oversee the management of surrounding ecology, behavior, and habitat conservation of wild animals.
- Serve as the point of contact for wildlife input in the field/district's annual work plan.
- Coordinate wildlife management programs with other natural resource activities.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Doctoral degree in biological science or related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in biological science.
- Specialized experience in wildlife management or conservation, including planning and conducting wildlife field inventories and preparing management plans.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with environmental assessments and analyzing proposals related to Threatened and Endangered Species.
- Knowledge of animal physiology and entomology.
