Wind Tunnel Test Engineer

About the position

The Wind Tunnel Test Engineer at Amentum is responsible for planning, executing, and closing out discrete wind tunnel test programs for various customers. This role involves leading teams of engineers and technicians, managing test timelines, and ensuring the quality and completeness of test data. The engineer will also identify process improvements, determine facility upgrades, and produce technical papers and presentations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and close out wind tunnel test programs.
• Lead teams of engineers and technicians in test execution.
• Establish test timelines and manage test-related data and documentation.
• Evaluate final test data for quality and completeness.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Determine required facility upgrades.
• Produce and deliver technical papers and presentations.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• BS degree in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited engineering school with 3-5 years of engineering experience, or MS degree with 1-3 years of experience, or PhD with 0-1 years of experience.
• Ability to lead a team in preparing and conducting wind tunnel tests of scale models.
• Good interpersonal relations with test team members and customers.
• Ability to respond to changing customer needs and multi-process inputs during test periods.
• Prefer experience in fluid mechanics, instrumentation, data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.
