About the position

The Windows/Linux System Administrator role at Amentum involves supporting an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The position is responsible for managing and maintaining both Windows and RedHat Linux servers, automating tasks, and troubleshooting network and server issues in a highly secured environment. The role requires a strong background in system administration and networking, with a focus on providing enterprise IT support across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support Windows and RedHat Linux servers.
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Troubleshoot network and server issues independently.
  • Manage networking tasks from machine to wall.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Research and evaluate information regarding industry practices and regulatory changes.
  • Define systems requirements based on user/client needs and existing applications.
  • Develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT related field and 4 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or a High School degree/GED and 11 years of experience.
  • Active DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance with reciprocity.
  • Windows Server System Administration experience (1-3 years).
  • Familiarity with network protocols and management technologies.
  • Ability to utilize software diagnostic tools and conduct troubleshooting processes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • STIG or system hardening experience.
  • Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience (1-3 years).
  • Prior working experience with Sandia infrastructure.
  • Automation platforms experience (Ansible, VMware, Python) (1-3 years).
  • Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions.
  • RHCE/CCNA certification.
  • Experience with container technology (Kubernetes, RKE, Docker).
  • Virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment experience.
  • ESXI or similar hypervisor experience.
  • Sec + or other security certification.
