About the position

Amentum is currently seeking a Windows/Linux System Administrator to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This program encompasses a workforce of over 500 individuals providing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across various facilities and locations, catering to both classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and support for the entire program. In this role, if the candidate possesses Linux experience, they will be tasked with supporting RedHat Linux servers. Responsibilities will extend to automating tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible, which are essential for streamlining operations and improving efficiency. The candidate will also be responsible for networking tasks from machine to wall, requiring a proactive approach to troubleshooting network and server issues independently. The work environment is highly secured, necessitating a strong adherence to security protocols and practices. The position demands a blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills, as the candidate will interact with various stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and database administrators. The ability to work collaboratively within a team is essential, as is the capacity to conduct thorough research and provide practical solutions to complex technical challenges. The role is pivotal in defining system requirements based on user needs and ensuring the integration of new solutions with existing systems and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support Windows Server System Administration tasks for 1-3 years.
  • Assist in automating tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Troubleshoot network and server issues independently.
  • Maintain and support RedHat Linux servers if applicable.
  • Conduct appropriate upgrades and utilize software diagnostic tools.
  • Define systems requirements based on user/client needs and existing applications.
  • Develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides for technical standards and functionality tests.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of systems and processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication with stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT related field and 2 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 5 years of experience, or a High School degree/GED and 8 years of experience, or equivalent.
  • Active DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance with reciprocity.
  • Willingness to take and pass a Polygraph, if necessary.
  • 1-3 years of Windows Server System Administration experience.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Ability to conduct troubleshooting processes and upgrades effectively.
  • Strong understanding of software packages and their applications.
  • Ability to research and evaluate information regarding industry practices and regulatory changes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • STIG or system hardening experience.
  • 1-3 years of Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience.
  • Prior working experience with Sandia infrastructure.
  • 1-3 years of experience with automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, or Python.
  • Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions.
  • RHCE/CCNA certification.
  • Experience in Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Familiarity with container technology, such as Kubernetes, RKE, Docker, etc.
  • Experience with virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • ESXI or similar hypervisor experience.
  • Sec + or other security certification.
