About the position

Amentum is currently seeking a Windows/Linux System Administrator to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This program encompasses a workforce of over 500 individuals providing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across various facilities and locations, catering to both classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and support for the team. The responsibilities of the Windows/Linux System Administrator will include supporting RedHat Linux servers if the candidate possesses Linux experience. The role will also involve automating tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible, and managing networking tasks from machine to wall. The candidate should be prepared to troubleshoot network and server issues independently, demonstrating a strong ability to work in a highly secured area. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery. Candidates must meet specific qualifications, including a Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field with at least 2 years of experience, or an Associate's degree with 5 years of experience, or a High School diploma/GED with 8 years of experience. Related experience can be substituted for relevant education. Additionally, candidates must possess an Active DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance with reciprocity and be willing to take and pass a Polygraph if necessary. The role demands a solid foundation in Windows Server System Administration, familiarity with network protocols, and the ability to utilize software diagnostic tools effectively. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, as the candidate will interact with customers, vendors, and database administrators regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  • Administer Windows and Linux servers, including RedHat Linux servers if applicable.
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Manage networking tasks from machine to wall and troubleshoot network and server issues independently.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of systems and processes.
  • Research and evaluate information regarding industry practices and regulatory changes.
  • Define systems requirements based on user/client needs and existing applications.
  • Develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides for technical standards and functionality tests.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication with customers, vendors, and database administrators.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT related field and 2 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 5 years of experience, or a High School degree/GED and 8 years of experience.
  • Active DOE Q or Top Secret Clearance with reciprocity.
  • Windows Server System Administration experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Ability to utilize software diagnostic tools and conduct troubleshooting processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and understand software packages.
  • Ability to research and recommend solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to define systems requirements based on user/client needs.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • STIG or system hardening experience.
  • Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Prior working experience with Sandia infrastructure.
  • Automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, Python experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions.
  • RHCE/CCNA certification.
  • Experience in Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Experience with container technology, such as Kubernetes, RKE, Docker, etc.
  • Virtualization, servers, storage, and networking equipment experience.
  • ESXI or similar hypervisor experience.
  • Sec + or other security certification.
