About the position

The position involves maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with network administrators, and providing technical support for Windows servers. The role requires interaction with users, evaluation of vendor products, and making recommendations for hardware and software purchases. The candidate will also be responsible for system patching, performance monitoring, and ensuring compliance with operational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.
  • Coordinate with network administrators.
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software.
  • Coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts.
  • Maintain system documentation and tune system performance.
  • Install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Provide administrative operational and technical support for Windows servers.
  • Perform system patching and upgrades, capacity planning, and performance monitoring.
  • Resolve problems and provide timely metrics on server availability.
  • Implement and maintain customer and security procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
  • Complete understanding of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience supporting Windows Servers in an ESX virtual environment and on physical hardware.
  • Knowledge of SAN storage, ESX Virtual Center, and Simplivity hardware is a plus.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting tools.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with other organizations in support of the customer.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Willing to periodically work after scheduled hours.
  • On-call support is required.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
  • Capable of obtaining a Security Clearance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
