About the position

ECS is seeking a System Administrator III to work in our client's Microsoft Windows environment for a customer at a National Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM. The candidate will be responsible for providing IT support for the clients Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which is manned and operated 24x7x365 days. This position requires the ability to work on call, with a standard work schedule of Monday to Friday. However, in the event that the Emergency Operations Center is activated due to a national emergency, the candidate might be asked to work on-site around the clock. The selected candidate's day-to-day duties will include installing new infrastructure, assisting customers with their file system needs such as creating folder structures and backing up data, working on switches, troubleshooting performance issues, examining logs, and making hardware recommendations. The candidate will primarily work with servers, but desktop support for the customer will also be part of the daily responsibilities. The customer works primarily with unclassified and classified data, networking, and software diagnostics. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong customer-focused mindset, be a self-starter, and possess strong communication skills. This is a 100% on-site position, and candidates must reside in the Albuquerque, NM area by the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Install new infrastructure for the Emergency Operations Center.
  • Assist customers with their file system needs, including creating folder structures and backing up data.
  • Work on switches and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Examine logs and make hardware recommendations.
  • Provide desktop support for customers as needed.
  • Support unclassified and classified data operations, networking, and software diagnostics.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or related field with 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Windows Desktop and Server System Administration.
  • End-User Application Support experience.
  • System Setup experience.
  • Active Directory Support experience.
  • Account Management experience.
  • File services experience.
  • Network Configuration experience.
  • Application Hosting experience.
  • Computer and Networking Troubleshooting experience.
  • Previous experience in the service or installation of audio, video, and/or audiovisual presentation systems.
  • Familiarity with Firewall technology and management of private LANs/networks.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Skill in utilizing software diagnostic tools and conducting appropriate troubleshooting processes and upgrades.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on customer satisfaction.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
  • Ability to be on-call.

Nice-to-haves

  • InfoComm CTS certification preferred but not required with the right experience.
  • Any other industry-related certifications or training, such as Crestron, BIAMP, Extron, QSC, Microsoft TEAMs, Shure, etc.
