About the position

The Windows System Administrator Team Lead at GovCIO is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of computer systems, ensuring system integrity, and implementing necessary upgrades. This remote role involves consulting with various teams to resolve technical issues, planning for transitions to new technologies, and maintaining network security measures. The position requires a proactive approach to system performance monitoring and documentation, as well as scripting to automate administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer systems in networked or stand-alone configurations.
  • Maintain system integrity and upgrade systems and/or servers as required.
  • Create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures.
  • Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff in problem resolution.
  • Coordinate and perform operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers.
  • Identify recurring problems and recommend steps to reduce their severity or frequency.
  • Plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
  • Utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files and manage system data.
  • Study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Provide regular monitoring and analysis regarding short and long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • Prepare or ensure appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
