About the position

Amentum is currently seeking a Windows System Administrator to support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This program encompasses a workforce of over 500 individuals providing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across various facilities and locations, handling both classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems. As a Windows System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of these systems and providing essential support to users. In this position, you will be responsible for installing new infrastructure and assisting customers with their file system needs, which includes creating folder structures and backing up data. You will also work on switches, troubleshoot performance issues, examine logs, and make hardware recommendations. While your primary focus will be on server management, you will also provide desktop support as part of your daily duties. The work environment will involve handling both unclassified and classified data, requiring a strong understanding of networking and software diagnostics. Your role will be based in the Emergency Operations Center, and you will need to be available for on-call duties. This position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as you will be interacting with various stakeholders to address their IT needs.

Responsibilities

  • Install new infrastructure and assist customers with their file system needs.
  • Create folder structures and back up data as required.
  • Work on switches and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Examine logs and make hardware recommendations.
  • Provide desktop support in addition to server management duties.
  • Handle unclassified and classified data, networking, and software diagnostics.
  • Be available for on-call duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience, or an Associate's degree and 5 years of experience, or a High School diploma/GED and 8 years of experience.
  • Must have an ACTIVE TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q Government Clearance.
  • Experience in Windows Desktop and Server System Administration.
  • Proficient in End-User Application Support and System Setup.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory Support and Account Management.
  • Experience with File services and Network Configuration.
  • Ability to host applications and troubleshoot computer and networking issues.
  • Familiarity with audio, video, and audiovisual presentation systems installation and service.
  • Understanding of Firewall technology and management of private LANs/networks.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Skill in utilizing software diagnostic tools and conducting troubleshooting processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • InfoComm CTS certification preferred but not required with the right experience.
  • Other industry-related certifications or training such as Crestron, BIAMP, Extron, QSC, Microsoft Teams, Shure, etc.
