About the position

The Windows System Engineer role focuses on the implementation and configuration of Windows-based systems and third-party solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of security solutions, infrastructure design, and application development across multiple technologies. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the performance and integration of large-scale applications, while also providing troubleshooting support and optimizing system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the overall infrastructure and software implementation and configuration of 3rd party solutions.
  • Plan and deliver large-scale, distributed application and hardware upgrades.
  • Work with internal and external interface partners to create, test, and maintain application interfaces.
  • Partner with internal and external teams on performance and end-to-end integration testing efforts.
  • Identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization, and capacity demands.
  • Provide application expertise and troubleshooting support for complex issues escalated by users and production support.
  • Design automated software and product upgrades, change management, and release management solutions.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of experience with server-based Operating Systems such as Windows 2016/2019 (Red Hat Linux/Unix a plus).
  • 5 plus years with database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Practical working experience with high-availability (clusters, failover) and networking (latency, load balancing, firewall) concepts.
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.
  • Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software.
  • Experience with reporting, business intelligence, and visualization tools (i.e., Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos, etc.).
  • Experience with functional, user acceptance, and performance testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working proficiency in development toolsets such as Jenkins, Git/BitBucket, Jira, etc.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and environments.
  • Knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
