About the position

The Windows - System/Software Engineer III role at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is designed for engineers who will work on enabling Microsoft Windows on HPE's server product lines. This hybrid position requires working in the office 2-3 days a week, focusing on the full product lifecycle from investigation to release. Engineers will engage with various teams and partners, becoming subject matter experts in Windows Server features and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate newly released Windows features and identify integration gaps with HPE server products.
  • Create and maintain reference architectures.
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging of Microsoft Windows issues.
  • Analyze, design, code, and perform integration activities based on product architecture knowledge.
  • Write investigation reports and plan technical and non-technical project activities.
  • Collaborate with management and partners regarding software system design and project progress.
  • Mentor peers and junior team members.

Requirements

  • Understanding of modern computer architecture, x86 or ARM CPU concepts, and Operating System concepts.
  • Working experience with industry standard specifications such as PCIe, USB, I2C, ACPI, SMBIOS, UEFI, or Redfish (RESTful API).
  • Experience with programming languages: C/C++, C#, or Java.
  • Expertise in Windows debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Visual Studio for Windows driver or application development.
  • Knowledge of Windows OS feature/service configuration and deployment.
  • Ability to use empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate product designs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Python, PowerShell, Perl, batch/shell scripting.
  • Experience with Software-Defined-Network and Software-Defined-Storage.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing/OpenStack.
  • Experience with Big Data.
  • Linux OS/kernel experience.
  • Experience with GPU or FPGA.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.
  • Familiarity with Javascript/Typescript, Angular, Node.js, HTML, or CSS.
  • IT/Computer Security related knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS.
