About the position

The SBA Underwriter IV at Windsor Advantage plays a crucial role in assisting lenders with SBA loan requests by preparing comprehensive assessments of eligibility, managing loan applications, and ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines. This position requires a strong understanding of creditworthiness analysis, financial documentation, and effective communication with lenders and borrowers to facilitate the loan process efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze the creditworthiness of all applicant's loan requests by spreading company and personal financial statements.
  • Manage loan applications, assisting various lenders, banks, and credit unions with their borrowers through effective communication.
  • Inform lenders of SBA guidelines for loan structure, maximum rate, and term based on the loan requested.
  • Assist lenders in preparing the sources and uses of the loan request, including reviewing construction budgets and purchase agreements.
  • Prepare a collateral table to assess the adequacy of business assets and apply SBA liquidation percentages.
  • Conduct a business overview to discuss the business description, history, and market analysis.
  • Spread historical and projected financial documents to determine cash flow and repayment capabilities.
  • Analyze projection assumptions and determine projected break-even scenarios.
  • Discuss RMA Common Size ratios in comparison to the borrower's revenues and expenses.
  • Analyze and spread affiliate businesses to ensure they do not strain the applicant's financials.
  • Prepare a global cash flow and rate sensitivity spreads to meet SOP guidelines.
  • Spread historical balance sheets and prepare pro-forma balance sheets to assess transaction impacts.
  • Review CAIVRS for delinquent Federal debt and ensure compliance with SBA requirements.
  • Work with the Underwriting Team to improve the underwriting process and client experience.
  • Collaborate with the packager/closer team for a smooth transition in the SBA process.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of private customer information.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related area; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of processing/servicing experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial/SBA underwriting experience.
  • Underwriting experience of loan amounts $2MM or higher.
  • Recent underwriting experience in a high-volume environment with full knowledge of lending requirements and regulations.
