About the position

The School Athletic Director IV/I at Kailua High School is responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering the school's athletic programs, ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations. This role involves overseeing both intramural and interscholastic sports, managing budgets, maintaining records, and promoting high standards of conduct among student-athletes. The director will also work closely with coaches, students, and the community to foster a supportive athletic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, organize, and administer the school's overall athletic program.
  • Develop and administer the school athletic budget and operational expenditure plan.
  • Maintain complete and accurate financial records and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the development of rules and regulations for the athletic program.
  • Ensure compliance with Title IX and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Encourage high standards of conduct and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Prepare eligibility and participation lists for all sports and monitor student eligibility.
  • Organize and supervise athletic awards programs and training workshops for coaches.
  • Plan and supervise all trips by athletic teams, including travel arrangements.
  • Maintain a report-filing system on athletic department matters.
  • Supervise the re-entry of injured athletes into competition.
  • Maintain a current school athletic policy handbook and distribute to coaches.
  • Coordinate transportation needs for athletic teams and ensure safety compliance.
  • Promote good school-community relations regarding the athletic program.
  • Coordinate game support services and supervise home games.
  • Evaluate existing athletic facilities and assist in planning for new facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in education with coursework in sports/athletic administration or physical education.
  • Two years of experience as an Athletic Director or equivalent experience in sports administration.
  • Current knowledge of athletic administration principles, budgeting, and public relations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate a school athletic program effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with fundraising and community engagement in sports.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in athletics.
  • Experience in coaching or sports management.

  • Salary range from $89,408 to $143,427 based on qualifications and experience.
