About the position

The Wine & Spirits Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in the Wine & Spirits department. This role involves educating customers about products, maintaining merchandise quality, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. The clerk will work collaboratively with team members to meet customer needs and uphold store standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Educates customers about products available in the Wine & Spirits department.
• Rotates, faces, and replenishes merchandise to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
• Checks in product, puts product away, and may review invoices.
• Maintains displays in the department and throughout the store.
• Removes trash in a timely manner and practices proper sanitation procedures.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Requirements

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to deal with a few concrete variables.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, and to count and record figures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in customer service or retail environment.
