About the position

The Middle School Girls Basketball Head Coach at DREAM is responsible for leading and developing the competitive basketball team for middle school students. This part-time, seasonal role focuses on coaching, mentoring, and fostering a positive athletic environment that aligns with DREAM's mission of promoting academic and personal growth through sports. The coach will work closely with the Athletics team to ensure the program's excellence and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the middle school girls basketball team during practices and games.
• Develop and implement training programs that enhance players' skills and teamwork.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages participation and growth.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team activities and expectations.
• Attend evening and weekend games as scheduled.
• Collaborate with the Athletics Director to ensure alignment with the overall goals of the athletics program.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in coaching basketball, preferably at the middle school level.
• Strong understanding of basketball as both a player and coach.
• Experience working with middle school-aged students.
• Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for athletes.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in youth sports development programs.
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning principles.
