About the position

The Wire Machine Operator is responsible for manufacturing high-quality wire products according to customer specifications. This role involves following work order instructions, setting up machines, and ensuring production meets established quality standards. The operator will work closely with the production supervisor and is expected to maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Determine sequence of operations by reading and understanding written and verbal instructions and specifications in the related work orders.
  • Prepare machines for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and setting and adjusting controls.
  • Plan work assignments by studying and clarifying instructions, calculating requirements, gathering materials and supplies.
  • Prepare equipment for operation by conducting operator inspections and performing preventive maintenance checks.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Accomplish work by following the general manufacturing process related to particular department and products: Performing initial set-up according to standard operating procedures, operating equipment, observing varying conditions, adjusting equipment controls, loading and unloading product from machines, completing production to established specifications, and meeting production standards and deadlines.
  • Report production problems by notifying supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Document production actions by using the production posting system.
  • Ensure quality standards are met by conducting initial quality checks, performing in-process inspections, and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and organized condition by adhering to the company's standards and policies, following safety regulations, and alerting the appropriate person regarding potential concerns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year manufacturing related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, use simple math, and use basic handheld and measuring tools.
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with others and comprehend work instructions.
  • Basic computer skills required to use keyboard to open appropriate screens, enter data, save and print tags and production sheets; also know how to scan and save documents.
  • Ability to complete general machine maintenance checklist.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with the Axis system for product entry.
  • Ability to assist in training individuals in the machining process.
