About the position

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and level 3 support of Cisco Wireless technologies within a large enterprise network environment. This role is critical as the company transitions from older Cisco models to newer ones, requiring a strong background in Cisco products and network engineering. The engineer will also mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with network standards while collaborating with project management to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical design, development, implementation and support for network engineering projects and operational functions.
  • Collaborates with project and functional management to define the scope and direction of specific projects.
  • Acts as a secondary resource with vendors and management to escalate and communicate incidents and resolutions.
  • Reviews network engineering activities to ensure that all required SLAs are met.
  • Participates in the identification, creation, review and approval of standards to support new technology and business models.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and mentors less tenured analysts and engineers.
  • Conducts regular audits of the network to ensure compliance to standards.
  • Reviews network engineering documents produced by engineers and analysts to ensure project scope is adequately covered.
  • Ensures that all design documents are up-to-date and available in the document repository.
  • Facilitates the audit and recurring update of network engineering standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in network engineering with a strong Cisco Wireless background.
  • Experience in building and supporting enterprise network environments for at least 7 years.
  • Proficient in MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and large L2/L3 switching environments.
  • Experience with Riverbed WAN optimization and troubleshooting in MPLS, WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi environments.
  • Familiarity with various storage platforms such as SAN and NAS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with F5 LTM/GTM support.
  • Knowledge of Juniper networking equipment.
