About the position

As a Wireless System Automation Development Engineer at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in the Wireless Hardware group, focusing on the automation development for the characterization of cutting-edge wireless System-on-Chip (SoC) products. This position is not just about technical expertise; it’s about leading a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of wireless connectivity. You will be responsible for creating and implementing the automation infrastructure that is essential for the silicon design group, ensuring that the characterization, regression, and reporting frameworks are robust and efficient. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the performance of Apple’s products, enabling innovative experiences that leverage advanced sensor technology. The ultimate goal is to ensure seamless connections between customers and their devices, making their interactions with technology more intuitive and powerful. In this lead role, you will be at the forefront of developing test automation systems that include equipment drivers, debug tools, automation scripts, and database interfaces. You will also be responsible for establishing traceability and repeatability in automation infrastructure, utilizing tools such as GIT and CI. Your experience with Python and/or C/C++ will be crucial as you work with wireless test lab equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and power meters. This position requires a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of wireless communication systems, making it essential for you to have a strong background in this field. Your leadership will guide the team in overcoming challenges and achieving excellence in wireless system automation development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the automation development effort for the characterization of wireless SoC products.
  • Develop and implement test automation systems including equipment drivers and debug tools.
  • Create automation scripts and database interfaces for efficient testing processes.
  • Establish a robust reporting framework for regression and characterization results.
  • Ensure traceability and repeatability in automation infrastructure using tools like GIT and CI.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance wireless connectivity performance.

Requirements

  • BS degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in wireless communication systems.
  • Proven experience in architecting and implementing test and automation systems.
  • Strong background in developing test automation including equipment drivers and automation scripts.
  • Familiarity with automation infrastructure development and related tools such as GIT and CI.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C/C++.
  • Basic understanding of wireless test lab equipment and their operation.
