About the position

In this individual technical contributor role at Apple, you will be responsible for the bringup and integration of PHY/Radio systems, executing PHY and radio level characterization on internal silicon solutions. This position involves engaging with the first silicon arrivals to ensure optimal performance and debugging of the radio system operation, ultimately contributing to the quality of Apple products.

Responsibilities

• System integration and characterization of wireless SoC products.
• Bringup, integrate, tune, and debug the PHY and radio system operation and performance.
• Optimize performance and debug issues using communication theory and radio calibration algorithms.
• Utilize test equipment to identify and resolve issues on the silicon.
• Ensure silicon performance meets and exceeds expectations.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of wireless communication protocols: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, LTE/WCDMA/GSM, or 802.11ad/ay.
• Understanding of communication theory and key Tx/Rx metrics like EVM and sensitivity.
• Experience in bringing up radio calibration algorithms (Power Control, IQ imbalance, LO Leakage, TSSI, etc.).
• Experience in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debug of wireless silicon in a lab.
• Proficiency with wireless/RF test equipment such as signal analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience in developing test automation including equipment drivers, debug tools, automation scripts, and reporting tools.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, Perl, Javascript, C/C++, or C#.
• Experience with automation infrastructure development and related tools (GIT, CI, database, reporting tools).

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degrees (MS or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
