About the position

As a Wireless System Integration & Test Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Wireless Hardware group, where your primary responsibility will be to enhance the performance of wireless connectivity products through innovative system-on-chip designs. This role involves integrating golden calibration algorithms for wireless transceivers within an automated infrastructure, validating and characterizing these algorithms on real silicon, and collaborating closely with PHY, MAC, RFIC, and digital circuit designers. You will be tasked with bringing up and transitioning state-of-the-art physical layer wireless communication system algorithms into production, particularly for high data rate applications. Your responsibilities will also include designing and implementing the necessary infrastructure for chip drivers, debug tools, and automation environments. You will build and execute comprehensive test plans, collect and analyze test results, and identify, root-cause, and debug any issues that arise. As a champion of the test campaigns, you will guide the process through various phases of post-silicon chip development, ensuring that nothing impedes our customers' connections with their devices. This role is crucial in paving the way for new experiences that leverage Apple's innovations in sensor technology, ultimately contributing to the development of world-renowned wireless systems that connect customers to their world like never before.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate golden calibration algorithms for wireless transceivers in automation infrastructure.
  • Validate and characterize algorithms on real silicon alongside PHY, MAC, RFIC, and digital circuit designers.
  • Bring up and take to production state-of-the-art physical layer wireless communication system algorithms for very high data rate applications.
  • Design and implement the bring-up infrastructure including chip drivers, debug tools, and automation environment.
  • Build and implement test plans; collect and analyze test results; identify, root-cause, and debug issues.
  • Champion the test campaigns through the bring-up, tuning, characterization, and other phases of post-silicon chip development.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification is a BS degree with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Industry experience in system integration, bringing up, and productization of wireless communication systems.
  • Deep understanding of communication theory and radio calibration algorithms (modulation, signal estimation/detection, gain control, RF impairment estimation/correction).
  • Extensive experience in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debug of real wireless silicon in a lab environment.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Experience developing test automation including equipment drivers, debug tools, automation scripts, database interfaces, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of existing wireless communication protocols: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, 802.11ad/ay, Bluetooth/BLE, or cellular technologies.
  • Extensive experience with Matlab, Python, Shell scripting, and/or C/C++.
  • Experience with automation infrastructure development (traceability, repeatability) and related tools (GIT, CI, database, reporting tools).

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage.
  • Retirement benefits.
  • Discounted products and free services.
  • Reimbursement for certain educational expenses, including tuition.
  • Opportunity to participate in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
  • Relocation assistance may be available.
