About the position

The Wireless Systems Application Engineer at Apple is a pivotal role within the Wireless Silicon Design group, focusing on the design and development of innovative wireless communication systems for next-generation applications. This position involves collaborating with various teams to create specifications, conduct pre-silicon validations, and optimize performance to ensure robust user experiences in increasingly congested wireless environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate state-of-the-art wireless communication systems for next generations of applications.
  • Implement system models and investigate innovative architecture, protocols, and algorithms in PHY/MAC cross-layer to mitigate the impact of congested radio environments.
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop novel architecture, protocols, integrated systems, and algorithms to meet emerging application requirements.
  • Perform simulations to validate the efficiency of crafted architectures, protocols, and algorithms on emulation systems.
  • Work with firmware designers to implement high-efficiency software solutions for developed methods.
  • Collaborate with digital designers to realize power and area-efficient digital implementations of hardware methods.
  • Bring up, test, and characterize crafted algorithms, optimizing performance to achieve targeted results with production quality on real silicon.

Requirements

  • Experience in wireless communication system design and simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of PHY/MAC protocols and cross-layer design.
  • Proficiency in system modeling and algorithm development.
  • Experience with performance analysis and optimization in wireless systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including firmware and digital design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with emerging wireless technologies and standards.
  • Experience in pre-silicon validation and post-silicon bring-up processes.
  • Knowledge of power consumption reduction techniques in wireless systems.
