About the position

As a Wireless Systems Integration Engineer at Apple, you will play a critical role in the design, integration, and productization of advanced wireless communication systems. Your primary focus will be on implementing cancellation and pre-distortion techniques to ensure optimal performance across various parts, systems, and wireless channels. You will be responsible for developing and validating golden calibration algorithms for wireless transceivers within automation infrastructure, ensuring that these algorithms are tested and characterized on real silicon in collaboration with PHY, MAC, RFIC, and digital circuit designers. Your work will involve bringing state-of-the-art physical layer wireless communication system algorithms to production, particularly for high data rate applications. In this position, you will design and implement the necessary infrastructure for chip bring-up, including chip drivers, debug tools, and automation environments. You will also develop and execute comprehensive test plans, collect and analyze test results, and identify and debug issues that arise during the testing process. A key aspect of your role will be championing automation throughout the bring-up, tuning, characterization, and other phases of post-silicon chip development, ensuring that processes are efficient and effective. To succeed in this role, you will need extensive experience in system design and integration, as well as a deep understanding of communication theory and signal processing algorithms. Your proven skills in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debugging of wireless silicon in a lab environment will be essential. You will also need to be familiar with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators, and have experience in developing test automation tools and scripts. Knowledge of existing wireless communication protocols, along with proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Python, Shell scripting, and C/C++, will be critical for your success.

Responsibilities

  • Implement cancellation and pre-distortion techniques for optimal performance across wireless systems.
  • Develop and validate golden calibration algorithms for wireless transceivers.
  • Collaborate with PHY, MAC, RFIC, and digital circuit designers to characterize algorithms on real silicon.
  • Bring state-of-the-art physical layer wireless communication system algorithms to production.
  • Design and implement chip bring-up infrastructure including chip drivers and debug tools.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and analyze test results.
  • Identify, root-cause, and debug issues during testing.
  • Champion automation in the bring-up, tuning, and characterization phases of post-silicon chip development.

Requirements

  • BS degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience with system design, integration, and productization of wireless communication systems.
  • Deep understanding of communication theory and signal processing algorithms.
  • Proven experience in system bring-up, integration, characterization, and debugging of wireless silicon.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
  • Experience in developing test automation including equipment drivers and automation scripts.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication protocols such as LTE, 802.11, and Bluetooth.
  • Proficiency in at least two of Matlab, Python, Shell scripting, and/or C/C++.
  • Validated experience with automation infrastructure development and related tools.
