About the position

The WMS (Warehouse Management System) Implementation Project Manager will lead the rollout of a new WMS in a 3PL warehouse, ensuring that the system aligns with operational needs and is effectively integrated into existing processes. This role requires strong project management skills, experience in logistics software implementations, and the ability to train staff on the new system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive project plan, timeline, and milestones for the WMS implementation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, software vendors, and third-party consultants for a smooth rollout process.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and potential issues.
  • Collaborate with the WMS vendor and internal IT teams to set up testing environments.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of the WMS, including integration with other systems and user functionality.
  • Document and address any issues, bugs, or gaps in system functionality.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for staff on the WMS.
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions and create user manuals and guides.
  • Provide ongoing support to employees during the transition period.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure a smooth transition to the new WMS.
  • Communicate project goals and changes in workflows to all staff.
  • Gather feedback from staff and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement during implementation.
  • Establish performance metrics and monitor the WMS's impact on warehouse efficiency.
  • Regularly report on project progress, budget status, and key performance indicators to upper management.
  • Analyze WMS performance post-launch to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Ensure all project documentation is maintained and compliant with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, ideally with WMS or other logistics software implementations in a warehouse or 3PL environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • PMP certification or similar is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WMS platforms and knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in training diverse teams.
  • Ability to proactively identify project risks and implement effective solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with popular WMS platforms and their integrations with other systems (e.g., ERP, TMS).
  • Knowledge of 3PL warehouse operations and processes.
  • Previous experience in change management and training staff on new technology.
