About the position

The Women's Cross Country Head Coach is responsible for overseeing the women's Cross Country team at Scott Community College. This part-time position involves coaching, program development, and managing team logistics, including practices and meets. The coach will also engage with the community and promote the Cross Country program while ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the fundamentals of Cross Country and perform coaching duties at meets and daily practices.
  • Develop Meet Schedule in cooperation with Athletic Director.
  • Become familiar with and follow NJCAA rules.
  • Recruit student athletes.
  • Make transportation arrangements for practices and meets.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Keep and update team rosters and player statistics.
  • Report meet results to local media and other appropriate entities after each meet.
  • Choose uniforms and equipment.
  • Scout future opponents.
  • Conduct fund-raising in conjunction with the SCC foundation.
  • Speak to civic organizations, at athletic functions and other related events.
  • Keep accurate records of student health coverage. Assist players in the completion of appropriate forms.
  • Promote positive relations in the community in regard to the Cross Country program.
  • Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Cross Country from a coaching standpoint.
  • Coaching experience desired.
  • Interest in program development.
  • Must be available for daily scheduled practices and games.
  • State of Iowa Coaching Authorization.

Benefits

  • Salary of $13,000 for the season, prorated pay if starting mid-season.
