About the position

The Wood Door Fabricator at The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC is responsible for modifying architectural grade wood doors to accommodate hardware applications. This role involves operating various fabricating machines, ensuring product specifications are met, and performing routine maintenance on equipment. The position requires a combination of technical skills in woodworking and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot fabricating machines such as saws, drill presses, and routers.
  • Determine product specifications and materials based on instructions, drawings, or work orders.
  • Examine raw wood stock for defects and ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Adjust machine tables and set controls to produce specified cuts or operations.
  • Trim wood parts using planes, chisels, and sanders according to specifications.
  • Inspect and mark completed work pieces for quality and conformity to specifications.
  • Attach parts and subassemblies together using glue, dowels, nails, screws, and clamps.
  • Assist shipping and receiving personnel with inventory management.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine maintenance needs.
  • Install and hang frames and doors, including hardware in the field as needed.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the wood shop.
  • Assist with various tasks in the wood door shop as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Current and valid US driver's license preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in woodworking with related products.
  • Knowledge of architectural door materials and hardware.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations accurately.
  • Proficient in the use of power tools required for the work.
  • Strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
