About the position

The WordPress Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing WordPress websites, ensuring optimal user experience and performance. This role requires a strong understanding of various coding languages and frameworks, as well as experience in customer service and collaboration within a team environment. The position is a 12+ month contract with the possibility of extension, and it is hybrid based in Long Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement WordPress websites.
• Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet client needs.
• Collaborate with team members to provide feedback and receive critique.
• Utilize various coding languages and frameworks including PHP, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Ensure website security and performance optimization.
• Implement responsive design for desktop and mobile devices.
• Utilize document search tools and API technologies.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in building and customizing WordPress websites, themes, and plugins.
• Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Experience with ADA and accessibility tooling/remediation for at least two years.
• Strong understanding of frontend and backend website security best practices.
• Experience with REST or GRAPHQL API.
• Minimum of three years using Open-Source development tools, IDEs, and GIT source control.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficient in JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
• Familiarity with WP Engine hosting platform.
• Experience designing websites using Adobe tools such as Photoshop or InDesign.
• Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines.
