About the position

GDIT is seeking a WordPress Developer to support the modernization and sustainment of enterprise business solutions for NASA. This role involves working on the NASA Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) program, focusing on agile service delivery and ITIL-based service management practices. The developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress websites, ensuring compliance with software standards, and optimizing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain WordPress websites from concept to deployment.
  • Customize WordPress themes and plugins to meet project specifications.
  • Collaborate with designers, content creators, and marketers to translate designs into functional and visually appealing websites.
  • Optimize website performance, including speed and scalability.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Perform regular updates, backups, and troubleshooting for existing WordPress sites.
  • Implement responsive design solutions for mobile and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Maintain strong security measures to protect sites from vulnerabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues and bugs as they arise.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of related technical experience.
  • Public Trust clearance, and ability to obtain higher level, if needed.
  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer (3+ years preferred).
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Strong experience with WordPress themes, plugins, and customization.
  • Experience with responsive and mobile-first design practices.
  • Knowledge of website optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control systems.
  • Experience in preparation of standard operating procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
