About the position

The Work Based Learning Program (WBLP) Data Center Operations Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) involves participating in a 12-month training program focused on data center operations. The position requires hands-on technical skills to support AWS's global infrastructure, ensuring service availability and operational excellence in a 24/7 environment. Technicians will work collaboratively with a diverse team to maintain high safety and security standards while addressing technical issues and contributing to process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Performing server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
  • Troubleshooting network issues and responding to operational incidents that impact service availability.
  • Serving as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
  • Performing on-call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
  • Contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations to support 24/7 data center operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education.
