About the position

The Work Based Learning Program Decom Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) involves participating in a 12-month training program focused on the decommissioning of legacy data center equipment. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team to ensure customer data is sanitized and properly managed while adhering to strict safety and operational standards. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of AWS's infrastructure and supporting its global operations.

Responsibilities

  • Decommissioning and processing of legacy hardware out of the data center facilities
  • Relocating and moving of large enterprise equipment
  • Creating/attaching labels and barcodes
  • Updating progress through a web ticketing system
  • Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations to support 24/7 data center operations

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of computer hardware components and operating systems
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system and coordination with Manager
  • STEM classes or vocational course curriculum education
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements and functional/technical depths and complexity for this role
