The Work Group Lead (WGL) Field Service Engineer (FSE) position is a critical role within the Operations and Maintenance (OandM) team, reporting directly to the OandM Manager. The WGL is responsible for the overall support of in-scope work in WBS130, which encompasses a variety of systems including the Telemetry and Radar Acquisition data Processing Systems (TRAPS), Mission Control Centers (MCC), data distribution and recording systems, Mobile Operations Facilities (MOF), Range Safety Station (RSS), and project-owned Ground Control Stations (GCS). This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the RFandESS Statement of Work (SOW) and the Performance Work Statement (PWS), particularly the WBS130 sections, to ensure that all technical support is aligned with project goals and quality standards. In this role, the WGL will provide training and technical oversight for all activities related to WBS130. This includes assigning tasks, overseeing work performance, conducting employee evaluations, managing corrective actions, reviewing timecards, and ensuring compliance with metrics. The WGL will also interface directly with various stakeholders, including NASA Technical Monitors (TM), Performance Monitors (PM), Test Information Engineers (TIE), Range System Engineers (RSE), and Range Control Officers (RCO), to coordinate and prioritize mission requirements effectively. The WGL is expected to comply with the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range (DATR) Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Mission Control Center (MCC) Work Order processes, ensuring accurate reporting through Configuration Change Requests (CCR), System Test Reports (STR), and Discrepancy Reports (DR). The role involves performing both periodic and corrective maintenance on specialized telemetry systems, conducting pre and post-flight checks, and troubleshooting instrumentation and data acquisition systems to meet flight test schedules. The WGL will work independently with customers and projects to develop, integrate, test, install, operate, and maintain complex systems while adhering to high standards of workmanship and established practices. Additionally, the WGL may be required to support other work centers during peak times, which may involve cross-training in different functional areas. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean work environment, operating personnel lifts and government vehicles, and troubleshooting communication equipment. The position demands a strong technical background, particularly in telemetry and radar data processing systems, and requires the ability to work under pressure in a real-time mission environment.
