Clear communication and documentation of complex concepts related to applications, interfaces, data structures, and workflows across the organization are essential components of this role. In this position, the manager will provide tier-2 support for application incidents reported through the help desk, including 24/7 on-call coverage as required. They will act as a technology subject matter expert, effectively communicating technical concepts in business terms to influence outcomes across various groups. The role involves leading complex software upgrade initiatives, new software installations, and enhancement requests, while maintaining up-to-date project documents that include technical details, user expectations, project goals, work effort, accountability, and deliverables. The Workday Change Control Manager will continually identify opportunities for automation and lead internal initiatives to implement them. Ensuring high availability and disaster recovery of all critical systems is a key responsibility, which includes leading periodic failover and disaster recovery tests in collaboration with infrastructure and end-user groups. The manager will also work with infrastructure teams to develop an environment management strategy, actively monitor application usage and growth, and ensure appropriate scalability through software, workflow, and infrastructure enhancements. Collaboration with infrastructure and end-user teams to develop data archive and purge strategies is essential, as is identifying system optimization and enhancements. The manager will mentor and train junior staff members, participate in cross-functional teams, and facilitate meetings to advance clinical delivery and quality outcomes through effective use of clinical software. The role requires independent analysis and judgment to produce solution options for complex issues, ensuring smooth project turnover to operations, support services, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tier-2 support of application incidents reported through the help desk, including 24/7 on-call coverage as required.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to develop an environment management strategy.
  • Monitor application usage and growth to ensure appropriate scalability.
  • Develop data archive and purge strategies in collaboration with infrastructure and end-user teams.
  • Identify system optimization and enhancements, collaborating with vendors and IT analysts to implement solutions.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members while acting as a third level of support.
  • Facilitate and organize team and cross-team meetings, maintaining appropriate meeting records.
  • Research issues and produce solution options for complex matters, including pros, cons, risks, benefits, and costs.
  • Review system configuration and design options to make recommendations for system maintenance requests.
  • Ensure smooth turnover of projects to Operations, Support Service, and Clients.
  • Create and administer support event feedback mechanisms to improve first call resolution of issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to advance clinical delivery and quality outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Business Management, or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education/work experience.
  • 5+ years of supporting process flow, configuration design, and integration of complex Human Capital Management (HCM) systems such as Workday, Lawson, or API in a complex healthcare organization.
  • Experience with Workday HCM software, Lawson, ADP, and API software applications is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical and business operations background with high credibility in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and other software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with server operating systems, storage systems, databases, scripting languages, monitoring tools, and high availability and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Excellent written, oral, instructional, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
