About the position

The Workday Finance Systems Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting the Institute's Workday, Jaggaer, and related applications that support the financial functions of the Institute. This role encompasses various functional areas within Finance, including accounting and budgeting, grants management, and procurement. The analyst will work closely with members of these areas, as well as the HR and IT teams, to support the systems, troubleshoot problems, and recommend and implement solutions. As the Finance functional lead analyst, the individual will act as a strategic consultant to business owners and stakeholders of Workday FIN transactional processes. This includes partnering with IT Business Services support team members and the HCM Systems analyst to support the Whitehead Institute's user base of the Workday, Adaptive, Jaggaer, and ECC systems. The analyst will analyze business problems and processes to identify functional and non-functional solutions that support the Workday FIN, Adaptive, Jaggaer, and ECC needs of the organization. The role requires leading the process of conducting systems analysis, identifying enhancement opportunities, and implementing complex Workday FIN configuration changes. This includes updates, fixes, and enhancements to various modules such as FDM/Financial Accounting, Banking and Settlement, Business Assets, Customer Accounts, Endowments, Expenses, Grants Management, Procurement, Projects, and Supplier Accounts. The analyst will also act as a primary configuration, administration, and security expert for all FIN modules, providing strategic systems and business process guidance to the organization. Additionally, the analyst will troubleshoot and resolve user issues, working with the IT support team for those that require internal escalation and/or support from Workday, Jaggaer, and other vendors. They will support periodic Workday, Adaptive, Jaggaer, and ECC releases by analyzing functionality changes, configuring desired new functionality, and overseeing testing activities in the Workday FIN space prior to upgrades. The analyst will also be responsible for FIN reporting, integrations, EIBs, data quality reviews, and audits, and will assist with ongoing training efforts for all users, particularly focusing on Workday FIN users. The position requires a commitment to expanding system knowledge for all Finance and HCM modules and working collaboratively with the Workday HCM Systems Analyst to provide backup support as needed. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary functional owner for FIN reporting, integrations, EIBs, data quality reviews, and audits.
  • Assist with ongoing training efforts for all users, with a focus on Workday FIN users.
  • Continue to expand system knowledge for all Finance and HCM modules and work with Workday HCM Systems Analyst to provide back-up to each other.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 5 years' experience in various aspects of financial information systems and financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of procure-to-pay business process, ability to solve problems in a creative manner and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems and the configuration and maintenance thereof, including working specifically with the FIN module of the Workday (or similar ERP) application, Adaptive, Jaggaer, and ECC.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of Workday FIN modules, including Procure-to-Pay, FDM/Financial Accounting, Banking and Settlement, Business Assets, Customer Accounts, Endowments, Expenses, Grants Management, Projects and Supplier Accounts.
  • Ability to understand business and technical design considerations and facilitate problem solving/issue resolution in the context of a customer service framework.
  • Basic understanding of data and ability to write reports.
  • Open to learning processes and translating that knowledge to IT teams.
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
