About the position

The Workday Technical Manager at the University System of Maryland is responsible for leading a team that leverages Workday applications across HR, finance, payroll, and Adaptive. This role requires a high level of expertise in Workday security, integrations, and reporting, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance operations and resolve technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and leadership to constituent consortium teams to maximize the benefits of Workday.
  • Interface with Workday to maintain knowledge of product enhancements and security updates.
  • Offer insights and recommendations to streamline Workday cross-application processes.
  • Maintain documentation of cross-application-related system configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Support training efforts for tenants and cross-application activities.
  • Support efforts to resolve Tier 3 & 4 issues (i.e., Service Desk tickets).
  • Liaise with appropriate central and campus compliance and data privacy leads.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to ensure system stability and reliability.
  • Analyze existing technology processes, conduct gap analyses, and contribute to the design and transformation of workflows.
  • Recommend technologies that align with the institutions' goals.
  • Advise on best practices for optimizing the use of Workday cross-application features.
  • Develop systems and structures as templates for institutions to use in the execution of internal and cross-cutting projects.
  • Lead Workday cross-application system upgrades, enhancements, testing validation, and overall performance of Workday.
  • Collaborate across the Workday support teams and business functions to support system functions.
  • Stay abreast of Workday releases, new features, and best practices.
  • Implement technology changes as needed to optimize system performance.
  • Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other internal stakeholders supporting automation.
  • Work with campus stakeholders and the user community to identify and scope process and system improvement.
  • Facilitate the cross-application governance groups and prioritization of processes with the executive director.
  • Lead and supervise projects and activities to implement best practices and drive business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two years' hands-on experience with Workday security, integration, and reporting in a post-production environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Workday cross-applications.
  • Experience configuring Workday cross-applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly define business challenges and identify required changes.
  • Ability to drive decision-making through a consensus-building approach.
