About the position

The Workday Technical Project Manager will oversee critical HR projects related to Workday, managing the entire project lifecycle from inception to execution and warranty. This role requires a hands-on approach to project management, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business needs while collaborating with various stakeholders and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Steer critical Workday HR projects from inception through execution to warranty, including new implementations, optimizations, data enhancements, and reporting.
  • Manage complex projects and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Act as a hands-on technical project manager, working closely with development staff and business groups.
  • Coordinate with the Information Technology Division and resource management to align staffing needs.
  • Manage complex technical projects and API integrations.
  • Communicate project timelines, expectations, and updates to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration among cross-functional technical teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Partner with vendors, consultants, contractors, and external teams for project execution, including contract management.
  • Coordinate with involved stakeholders and manage interdependencies across projects.
  • Conduct agile ceremonies, including Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and Sprint Reviews and Demos for candidate teams.
  • Maintain project documentation, including budget, plans, schedules, risks, tasks, and status reports, and share information per the communication plan.
  • Ensure requirements and use cases are documented, and prepare test objectives, test plans, and test cases.
  • Oversee project milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Define and communicate project metrics to track progress and performance.
  • Champion project management best practices, contributing to the growth and refinement of the PMO.
  • Support system and application training initiatives.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in HRIS system implementation and enhancements including multi-stream projects.
  • Strong background in Workday HCM, Talent and Performance Functional Areas (HCM knowledge or certifications are preferred).
  • Expertise in defining requirements, personas, scope, and creating process maps, leading to an SOW.
  • Extensive experience in both Scaled Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies (8+ years).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server).
  • Experience managing projects that involve coordination with external teams (8+ years).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in HR experience in running projects related to implementing Workday Extend.
  • Ability to navigate both Agile and traditional project management methodologies to achieve project goals.
