About the position

The Workday Test Lead is responsible for overseeing the testing efforts related to the Time and Attendance module for the Workday implementation project. This role involves leading the testing process from planning through execution, ensuring that the system meets business requirements and performs as expected. The Test Lead will coordinate test teams, develop test scripts, perform system tests, identify issues, and report on test progress while collaborating closely with project stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements and Workday configuration for Time and Attendance.
  • Lead test execution for various phases of the project, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for Time and Attendance functionality.
  • Collaborate with functional leads, business users, and developers to ensure the Time and Attendance solution meets business needs and quality standards.
  • Document test results, track defects, and report progress to the project management team and stakeholders.
  • Communicate test progress, risks, and issues to the project team and leadership on a regular basis.
  • Ensure defects identified during testing are properly tracked, categorized, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide test documentation such as test plans, test cases, test results, and defect logs.
  • Create progress reports during test execution detailing the completion of test cases, defects found, and testing status.
  • Maintain a detailed record of defects identified during testing, including severity, resolution status, and verification of defect fixes.
  • Summarize the results of the testing phase in a final report, including key findings, successes, and any outstanding issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Workday, specifically within the Time and Attendance module, including previous implementations and/or upgrades.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading testing efforts for large-scale HRIS or Workday projects, with strong experience in testing strategies, test management, and defect management.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, with an emphasis on Time and Attendance modules.
  • Experience working in an Agile or Waterfall project management environment, leading teams, coordinating testing schedules, and providing test reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and practices, including manual and automated testing, functional, integration, and UAT.
  • Deep understanding of Workday functionality and configuration for Time and Attendance.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into test cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in an understandable way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, HR, and payroll teams.
  • Experience with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Quality Center, HP ALM) and defect tracking software.
